In a world where our political climate has been overwhelmed by divisiveness and the art of conversation is slowly being lost, it is especially important to have spaces where people can open their minds and learn from different perspectives. The Living Library allows people who have an experience they’d like to share to have a one on one or small group conversation with teens or young adults to help foster human connection and empathy toward different perspectives.

Starting with these small conversations about a person’s career path, a book they read, or their experience learning a language will slowly build up to having meaningful conversations that bridge the gap between people of different political parties. These conversations prioritize civil discourse and empathy toward different perspectives and experiences, opening peoples minds to being curious about the opposite side of the aisle rather than divisive.
